Summer's Child by Diane Chamberlain

While I'm waiting for my next Dexter book, I decided on a summer beach book, called Summer's Child by Diane Chamberlain. This is the first book I have read by this author and I'm glad I decided to read this. I'm about 80 pages in and it's turning out to be quite a mystery. I've read many reviews on this book and even when you think you have figured out what's going on, it totally turns in a different direction and twists into something completely different. I am actually at that point in the book where I think I've figured it out, but I have a feeling I'm not right. I love a good mystery and I must keep reading this book to find out who would leave a newborn baby on a beach to die, only to be found by a young girl whose family adopts her and raise her as their own. This girl is now 21 years old and is curious to find out her birth mother. With the help of a neighbor, who now is a big shot Hollywood producer of a true-life mystery show, has asks for his help in finding the answers to her life-long questions of her birth and ultimately her life.

Like I've said I think I've figured it out, but who knows.........

I'm in love with Dexter books now......

My oh my! That was a great book. Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay was awesome. It started off very much like the first season of Dexter, but ended completely different. I did not expect a character that has been in all the shows seasons to die off so soon. What a great, wonderful, terrible, exciting twist of events this book turned out to be. I can't wait to get the second book. I should be getting it this week. I plan to dive into the next one as soon as I finish the new book I'm reading. I am completely hooked on Dexter now.

My newest book......

I love love love Dexter. I've seen all the episodes of Dexter and now I'm starting the books. They read a lot like the show, only you get a little bit more of what is going on in Dexter's twisted mind. I'm about half way through this book and I love it, but what's not to love about Dexter? He is the most lovable antihero out there today and I can't get enough of him and his demonic thoughts. Dexter is the best!!!

Finished A Change in Altitude

Well, another book down. Just finished "A Change in Altitude" by Anite Shreve. Definitely not her best book but a good book, nontheless. I liked this book. I did not love it. 3 stars out of 5.

I have read about 3 books now based on Africa. This one was pretty true to real life, but not totally acurate. There was no real time frame here, so it was hard to tell if this was 1960 or 1995. I had to kind of guess when this book actually took place. And it didn't have very many chapter breaks, which annoys me a little. But it was mainly suppose to be about the woman Margaret and her marriage to Patrick. Decent story, but a little cheesy in parts.

A Change in Altitude

My newest book is "A Change in Altitude" by Anita Shreve. This is probably the fourth book I've read from her. I really like her style of writing and can usually get through her books pretty quick. Hopefully I can get through her book a lot quicker than the last book I read.

So far, this book is really interesting and I think I will really enjoy this one.

Finally.......

Finally finished "Under the Dome" by Stephen King. This book was huge at 1000+ pages. This book took me about 3 months to finish. It was a very good story and I really liked it until about 25 pages from the end. I thought the ending kind of ran out of steam and puttered out. Not a good ending for me at all. Very disappointing. I have read that they are going to make this into a mini-series for HBO. I really hope they do, I will definitely watch it. I hope they can interpret the ending better than I can.

Now to start my next book.

Stephen King's "Under the Dome"

So, I picked out my latest book. Stephen King's "Under the Dome" which is exactly 1074 pages. Nothing like a little challenge to put one's reading muse in high gear. I've started reading this one the other night and it's already quite a ride. I'm currently on page 31 and it's already enthralling and completely engrossing. I think I'm going to enjoy this journey. Which me luck that this doesn't take me a month or two to finish!!!
